Huntington’s Lytle named school nurse of the year

Megan Lytle from Huntington Elementary School has been named the Nebraska School Nurse of the Year.

The Nebraska School Nurses Association considers several categories for the award: provider of care; program management; health education; professional development; community involvement; and research.

“Megan is a definition of professionalism in all that she does,” said former Huntington Principal Rik Devney in his nomination letter. “Overall, Megan provides a level of care that exemplifies excellence.”

Lincoln Public Schools Health Services Supervisor Wendy Rau called Lytle a “true school nurse in every sense.”

“She is data driven and has a quality improvement growth mindset. Megan uses evidence-based school nursing practice in her cares,” Rau said. “She is an effective communicator and relationship builder with students, parents and colleagues. Megan is an asset to our Health Services team."

This is the second major state award for a Health Services employee in the past month. Rau was recently named the Nebraska School Nurse Administrator of the Year.
